Harvest 2022 - 44th Harvest Geyserville, CA.

With our 44th harvest season ending, we want to share some moments during this particular time of year. Our first pick happened on Tuesday, September 6th, early in the morning(4 am). We have been harvesting early mornings since day one in 1978.

Night harvesting has several benefits when temperatures drop as much as 40º F from daytime highs. The cooler temperature allows flavors and aromas to concentrate while sugar and acid levels stabilize and oxidation lessens. Our crew appreciates the cooler weather as well💪.

Harvest can feel like a rush. One moment you're taking out foliage and unripened fruit from the large bins, and the next, you're dumping in several smaller bins filled with grapes. It can feel like a rush as it all happens rather quickly. Our team manages to pull things off while ensuring that each grape cluster is harvested. The crew is incredibly fast with their harvesting skills, and then soon, you'll need to have the tractor driver pull up to the next vineyard row. And repeat until done.

We've enjoyed being stewards of our land for the last 44 years and thought to ourselves, "why not try making a label out of our wine?" we sell our grapes to thumbprint cellars in Healdsburg, CA. We'll attach a photo of their bottle and a beautiful label. Thumbprint cellars make a fantastic rosé from these grapes; let us tell you, it is divine! This year was particularly special as it was the first year we harvested for our wine label.

We have partnered with the founder & winemaker of thumbprint cellars, Scott Lindstrom-Dake, to produce our wine. He has been making wine for the last 27 years! We couldn't be more honored to have Scott's magic touch on our wine.

Thank you to those who have purchased a candle from our Clone Candle Collection. Your support has allowed us to pay for part of our harvest this year and begin the planning process for developing L.F.V. Rosé of Cabernet Franc in 2023!!!

Thank you all so much! Stay tuned.
